Listen to Miranda Lambert’s Trippy New Single, “Vice”

For the first time in more than a year, Miranda Lambert has released a new single, “Vice,” to country radio—and it has definitely been worth the wait.

Written by Miranda, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, “Vice” is Miranda’s first single since “Smokin’ and Drinkin’” in June 2015.

The song begins with the crackle of a vinyl record as Miranda eases into the ballad a cappella. Instrumentation soon accompanies her twangy vocals and the numbing lyrics. When it hurts this good you’ve gotta play it twice / Another vice / All dressed up in a pretty black label / Sweet salvation on the dining room table / Waiting on me / Where the numb meets the lonely, she croons.

It’s emotional. It’s authentic. It’s a damn fine ditty.

Cam’s “Burning House” was a welcome reprieve from the pop-centric stylings of country radio in 2015. Perhaps Miranda’s “Vice” will carry that torch in 2016.

Now, it’s time for you to come to terms with “Vice.”
